The University of Lincoln is a public research university in the cathedral city of Lincoln, England. The university has origins tracing back to 1861 and obtained university status in 1992 and its present name and structure in 2001.
Lincoln's main campus is adjacent to Brayford Pool, the site of urban regeneration in the city since the 1990s; further campuses are located in Riseholme (including a research farm, on the same site as Bishop Burton Agricultural College, and a Tesco research center) and Holbeach (housing the National Centre for Food Processing).Graduation ceremonies take place at the medieval Lincoln Cathedral.
The Independent described the university as 'the best thing to happen to Lincoln since the Romans'. Lincoln has rapidly moved up in the university rankings, having risen 60 places in four years. The Sunday Times newspaper, responsible for The Times Good University Guide, has described the university's progression as 'the most dramatic transformation of a university in recent times'. In 2012, the university ranked in the top 50 of The Guardian University Guide for the first time and in 2016, it has been ranked among the top 40 English universities for the first time by The Complete University Guide. In 2019 the university was ranked as 22 in The Guardian University Guide, marking the first time it has placed within the top 30.
Being located physically in the centre of the UK's agri-business industry, Lincoln has world-leading strengths in agricultural and food production technology, and partnerships with many local agricultural production and engineering companies as well as national food retailers such as Tesco and Marks and Spencer. It runs short professional development courses for working farmers from across the UK linked to these areas.

English Language Requirements
Prospective students require one of the following qualifications:
A minimum of 70% in the Standard XII English exam from either the CBSE / State / Metropolitan Examination Boards (for courses requiring IELTS 6.0)
IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score). Please note that some courses require a higher IELTS score.
Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills

Based in the heart of Lincoln’s city centre, most student accommodation at the University is either on our Brayford Pool Campus or just a short distance away. Students are able to choose from a range of places to live, from University accommodation, both on and off campus, to partnership halls. All University accommodation is supported by our Residential Warden team.
